UC-DinoArt |
What is UC-DinoArt?
UC-DinoArt provides comprehensive and systematic way of inducing, practicing and training to all the learners, by combining colors, sculpture, and mental training which enable students to appreciate and learn art in a fun way. This is to unleash the hidden potential of creativity in children.
The training of senses has been the foundation of art education. It initiates the elements which constituted intelligence including observation, memory, and the process of concept formation subsequently leading to training of abstract thinking, imagination and creativity. The development of a child’s intelligence is directly proportional to the dexterity of hands. Throughout the practice of light art work like cutting, pasting and drawing, it helps the development of imagination, creativity, perception of space, substitution of matters and problem solving skills. It was said by educationist that the intelligence of young children is reflected by their hands. UC-DinoArt uses systematically planned textbooks which embodies the training of various senses with gradual progress of difficulty, initiate the intelligence of children with art and handcraft, which sought to help the development of both hemispheres of the brain and lead to a better life.
This is an art and handicraft program designed to stimulate the creativity of young learners. They would learn not only drawing skills but also paper craft, fabric painting and "magic clay" as well as learning how to use different types of art media. Through this, young learners would be able to have the opportunity to undergo a balanced early education in arts, mathematics and science.
This program is recognized by Saito Academy as a complete art learning program suitable for young children, primary and secondary students. Learners who have completed this program would be exempted from the Saito Basic Course at Saito Academy.

DinoArt and Children Development
Over and over, many studies in the past two decades show that children who are exposed to art lessons while they are young become more imaginative, creative adults, and the importance of art and creativity in the development of children. (Please view appendix)
As you know, creativity is an essential part of intelligence, and is often used as a gauge for measuring IQ. And creative children make intelligent adult.
However, with increasing demands being placed upon schools, teachers and youth groups to educate our children in the three R’s, education in the art has been neglected in many areas of the country in favour of the “more important” or “more practical” subjects.
People need to understand that art education is important and in fact essential to form well-rounded adults. In the work field, people who are creative are much more likely to be success. Creativity allows for innovation, a vital characteristic in today’s challenging work field. To stay ahead in the work field, we must be able to initiate and adapt to change. Both of these qualities are impossible without creativity, which is best learned at an early age.
Do you still remember how great it felt when we were in grade school and drew or painted a picture of our house or a friend? Why did that feel good? Because we were tapping into that special place inside each of us that wants to create and express ourselves. Those were our creative skills flowing through our mind. Creativity is being discussed in almost every aspect: books, articles, television and radio programmes, and work place. Creative art can be used to teach reading, writing, history etc.
We need to get the word out to many parents and teachers that art are more than just art. The art are extremely important and very basic to the total learning experience. They are a means of self-expression: a way to communicate ideas, feelings, beliefs, attitudes, and values. Some of the values we get from creative expression include self-discovery, self-reliance, and enthusiasm. We also learn to use our leisure time constructively.
Everyone has an imagination but DinoArt takes it a step further. Through art, children create something that, until that point, was only imagined. Thus, they create visual manifestations of abstract ideas.
In DinoArt, children develop many important aspects of a child’s ability including but not limited to:
Mental development. |
Our brain is divided into two hemispheres. Each hemisphere processes information differently. Reading, writing, arithmetic and science are all activities that are primarily controlled by the left hemisphere of the brain. This hemisphere is responsible for rational and analytical thought.
The right hemisphere of the brain controls imagination, visual and spatial perception. It is dominant in art, music, and physical movement.
Children learn best when both sides of their brains are stimulated. This occurs when the learning environment is both participatory and interactive. However, our modern classroom does have the participatory side but it is sorely lacking in interactivity. Therefore, sending children for art enrichment programme, such as DinoArt is an option to bring interactivity into children’s life.
Arouse Intelligence Quotient ( IQ). |
When our brain develops, it will stimulates our IQ by increasing the maturity of our mentality, improves reasoning and organizational skills.
he right hemisphere stimulation is crucial to the development of the "whole child". Do not under estimate the importance of creativity, the ability to think abstractly (out of the box). The best thinkers, inventors, and entrepreneurs of our time have a healthy dose of right brain influence.
When creating an artistic work, whether it is a crayon drawing on a wall or a developed self-portrait, a child is learning to communicate visually. Maybe they are only drawing what happened that day (“she went to school in a car”), or maybe they are communicating something deeper (“I lost my turtle, Tubby”). Many times, children are only learning to experiment (“red paint and blue paint mixed together produce purple colour”) or learning how to properly use an art tool. However, the process of brain development during the thinking and delivering to their scribble, drawing, batik painting, or even clay are more than what we can see through rough eyes. Creativity in art is an important skill that is invaluable at school, work, and everyday life.
Unleash Cultural Quotient (CQ). |
CQ is developed through cognitive, physical, and motivational. Where, cognitive includes the head, where, children learn about their own and other cultures and cultural diversity. Physical means, the body, where, children using their senses and adapt their movements and body language to blend in. Meanwhile, motivational means the emotions, where, by gaining rewards and strength from acceptance and success.
While children’s thinking skills, creativity, imagination, subconscious thinking skills, sensitivity and emotion, perceived ability, responsiveness, and performance ability improve, children will be able to explore and flexible in accommodating to something or any circumstances. They are able to restructure and link the conceived ideas. Children will also be able to have better understanding in visual, spatial, and perceptual tasks that are essential to the creative process. These factors increase their ability to focus on the task at hand which carries over into all areas of the child’s life.
Head: Multicultural art activities in DinoArt encourage the acceptance of others. Where, children can learn about other cultures in a safe and age-appropriate manner through the use of fun multicultural art activities. Whether it’s forming clay of Eiffel Tower or drawing the scenery of Hawaii beach, children can explore exciting faraway worlds together through engaging art.
Physical: Meanwhile, children will also improve their fine motor skill function. Whether children learning how to cut properly with scissors for the first time, learning how to draw, or attempting to control a paintbrush’s strokes on a drawing paper, a child can learn intricate fine motor skills through the art that are invaluable to future success.
Motivational: Where, in art, parents and teachers have to understand there is no right or wrong. In return, children should be praised for their effort since the beginning. Reason being, art are a way of self-expression, one’s creativity, and emotion. Find out the reason for their drawings, painting or even craft works. Why have they coloured the fish in pink and why is the lake black. In DinoArt, we do not restrict a child’s creativity and we do not limit their imagination. However, we will still give critique and comments on child’s work. However, we will do it in a positive and encouraging manner.
Achieve Adversity Quotient (AQ). |
AQ is the most scientifically robust and widely used method in the world for measuring and strengthening human resilience. The AQ measures one’s ability to thrive during chaotic moments and make the most out of one’s IQ Where, AQ includes performance, productivity, innovation, agility, change, pace, problem-solving, determination, patience, optimism, engagement, morale, retention, energy, development, and leadership.
Creating art in DinoArt is a fine way for children to make choices and solve problems. Every step involves making a decision: what colour to use, how to make a line, what size to create a clay object. Where, for example, children want to recreate a happy memory visually. These thoughts may run through children’s head, “Should I use crayons, pencils, or magazine cut-outs? What kind of paper should I use? The glue is not working properly, what will work better? I ran out of purple colour, which two colours should I mix to get purple?” Art encourage basic and advanced problem-solving skills and the ability of children in adapting to changes in any circumstances.
Self-expression. |
In DinoArt, children are encouraged for self-expression, where, a child expresses his/her happiness through a cheerful painting of flowers and sunshine, a misunderstood child communicates his/her frustration through a series of morose drawings, or a young cancer patient paints his/her visions of heaven. Each example shows a child learning to portray visually what cannot be said through words or actions. Self-expression is an important human trait manifested in the art.
Children who may be having difficulties in other part of their life or school curriculum may find an expressive outlet through art. It’s a way to uncover talent that may not be seen otherwise. Even psychologists agree with this. Why? Because art are more than just drawing and colouring. Art are expressions of creativity. Art is a means of communicating ideas, feelings, and solutions in a way other than verbally or written.
Meanwhile, it is also an effective form of therapy for troubled youth. Many times, when dealing with a child that exhibited uncontrollable anger, many psychologists will invite the child to draw their feelings on a piece of paper. The child may scribble out his/her emotions in bold strokes of dark colour. Abused and neglected children often express their experiences through art. Art therapy also aids in dealing with grief, depression, and abandonment issues.
Life enrichment. |
Where, children are trained to be a leader by stimulating their self-expression through performance, increase confidence that carries over other areas, brings a sense of individuality and the importance of individual style, and, becomes much more carefree and humorous.
As children are confidence and self-assure with themselves, they tend to live a better life compare to those that doubt their own abilities. Meanwhile, through DinoArt’s requirement of discipline in art, and, the added fun and colours in life eventually helps to release stress. This also leads to children’s interest in other artistic endeavours.

In brief, the 10 compelling reasons to pick DinoArt for children development are:
1 |
Creativity |
Everyone has natural skills and telents. And it is possible to radically improve and boost them, even if the child only have a little natural talent. Creativity enables children to try out and benefit from new ideas, options and alternatives in any future career. Children learn to do things in new ways and literally profiting from thinking “out of the box”.
2 |
Perseverance |
Perseverance is regulary stated as the single most important quality for any successful business person, sportsman, professional or individual. In fact, most well-known breakthroughs in life have been attributed to perseverance alone. And fortunately, art improve everyone’s perseverance. Children learnt to keep trying until they finish any task. And if something goes wrong, they simply persist by trying new ways and means.
3 |
Concentration |
Similar to having perseverance, developing concentration is probably the second best quality any successful individual can have. Art will definately teach your child to focus on one specific task at hand and ignore other distractions. In short, concentrationw ill definitely improve.
4 |
Delayed gratification |
Delaying gratification is an exceptionally important characteristic to reach meaningful long-term goals especially in future careers. Many studies have shown that lack of this characteristic continues even in adult life. People focus only on short term result and kaking it very difficult to reach meaningful long term goals. Therefore, without this quality, children will always want a result now.
5 |
Social interaction |
Art teach social interaction when working and interacting in smaller groups. Communication among friends is also improved.
6 |
Task completion |
All art help children develop a sense of satisfaction on task completion. Not only is this ability important for scholastic performance, but you will also reap the benfits in adult life. Together with perseverance it eliminates giving up before a ask is completed or even being disracted to focus on other interesting things.
7 |
Planning |
Many experts have emphatically stated that careful planning is the basis of all great achievements. Art also teaches children to follow a recipe or plan to completion, systematically and logically do things, and formulate new ideas and thoughts.
8 |
Expression of emotions |
Experience teaches us that things do not always work out as planned. And most of us then find it hard to express our frustrations. But here is the most important part. Arts will surely go along way to teach expression of emotions. They learn to handle frustrations and to just keep on trying.
9 |
Openness |
Many adults have great ideas and solutions to many problems. Yet, for fear of criticism few ever do anything with the ideas. This is sad and definitely avoidable. Parents and teachers can equip their children to effectively handle this problem. A great quality all art for children development is allowing and opening up for feedback, critique and comments. A vital, yet often lacking quality in those adults that never try out their ideas.
10 |
Self-image |
Arts and craft imporve children’s self-image. Finding success in the other qualities, it is inevitable that some sense of self-worth rubsoff. Frankly, it is a quality that will do anyone’s self image and confidence a world of good.

In DinoArt, one of our aims is to provide parents and teachers with qualitative art education guidelines to help give purpose and structure to art programmes. As we know that integrating art in education will greatly expand the minds of children and boost their self-esteem, and even make learning other subjects easier.
Art lessons are very time consuming to prepare, and, many parents and teachers feel that they lack the artistic ability or creativity to teach art. The reality is however, that they really don’t need to be creative geniuses themselves to teach art. They just need the right steps and aids such as those that can be found and learned in DinoArt.
As art increase cognitive ability and drawing is the primary building block in artistic expression. Children start to draw when they are very young and will continue to draw if they feel they can learn to draw better. Give children an opportunity to become a better learner and thinker by continuing their education in DinoArt.

1. According to Dr. Maria Montessori: artistic activity is a form of reasoning, in which perceiving and thinking are indivisible intertwined. A person who paints, writes, composes, dances… thinks with his sense…Genuine art work requires organization which involves many and perhaps all of the cognitive operations known from theoretical thinking.
2. According to Elliot Eisner (Lee Jacks Professor of Education, Stanford University), there are 10 key lessons that art teach.
» |
The art teach children to make good judgments about qualitative relationships. Unlike much of the curriculum in which correct answers and rules prevail, in the art, it is judgment rather than rules that prevail. The art teach children that problems can have more than one solution and that questions can have more than one answer.
» |
The art celebrate multiple perspectives. One of their large lessons is that there are many ways to see and interpret the world.
» |
The art teach children that in complex forms of problem solving purposes are seldom fixed, but change with circumstance and opportunity. Learning in the art requires the ability and a willingness to surrender to the unanticipated possibilities of the work as it unfolds.
» |
The art make vivid the fact that neither words in their literal form nor number exhaust what we can know. The limits of our language do not define the limits of our cognition.
» |
The art teach students that small differences can have large effects.
» |
The art traffic in subtleties. The art teach students to think through and within a material.
» |
All art forms employ some means through which images become real.
» |
The art help children learn to say what cannot be said. When children are invited to disclose what a work of art helps them feel, they must reach into their poetic capacities to find the words that will do the job.
» |
The art enable us to have experience we can have from no other source and through such experience to discover the range and variety of what we are capable of feeling.
» |
The art position in the school curriculum symbolizes to the young what adults believe is important.
In a ten-year national study by Shirley Brice Health of Stanford University, it was discovered that young people who are involved in highly effective non-school art-based community programmes in under-resourced communities, in comparison with a national sample of students were:
» |
Four times more likely to win an academic award, such as being on the honour roll. |
» |
Eight times more likely to receive a community service award. |
» |
Three times more likely to win a school attendance award. |
» |
Four times more likely to participate in a math or science fair.
Likely to score higher on their SAT college admission test scores if they have been involved for more than four years of after-school art study.
